Michael Ibach, loving and faithful husband of 62 years to his wife, Marion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at St Joseph’s Carmel Hospice. He was a caring father to Deborah (deceased), Sandra, Pam, Trish, Ange, David (Pam), and Laura (Wes); grandfather to Dillan (Amber), Brandon (Sara), Kennedy, Braden, Christina, Joshua, Jessica (Steve), Calla, Hunter, and Tristan; and great grandfather to Paxton, Devryn, Leonidas, and Alaric. Besides his family, he is survived by his loving sister, Kay; sister-in-law, Joan; brother-in-law, James (Jackie), dedicated nephew and buddy Alec; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his lifelong friend, Pete. Michael was predeceased by his daughter, Deb; his son-in-law, George; parents, Peter and Rose Ibach; two brothers, Henry and Tony; one sister, Irene; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and Marion’s parents, Joe and Katherine Fahlman. Mike was born March 19, 1938, and was raised on a farm near Fox Valley, Saskatchewan until the age of nine years. He moved to Medicine Hat attending St. Louis School and graduating from St. Theresa’s Academy. In 1960, he met and married Marion Fahlman and they started their family. Mike worked for Maple Leaf Mills in the lab for 25 years. He then managed MEK Wholesale and then was a custodian for the separate school system, with a special place in his heart for the staff and students of St. Francis School. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, 5 pin bowling Association, and the Veiner Center. He was also a scout club leader, little league umpire, delivered meals on wheels, and delivered food bank donations. He was an avid Tigers hockey fan, even billeting players in the 1980’s. Mike enjoyed planning and building projects. Give him a hammer and he’s your man! He also enjoyed bowling, horseshoeing, and cards – cribbage being his favourite. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (238 – 2nd Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Roque Pereira Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The prayer service on Monday evening and the funeral mass on Tuesday will be live streamed. Family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing.
