Matilda “Tillie” Krassman – Klaudt (Stickelmier)
With heavy hearts and with much sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, good friend and auntie. Mother was born November 21, 1926 to Jacob and Matilda Stickelmier in Odessa, Russia. Our grandparents and their four children immigrated to Canada. Our mother was 18 months old. They settled in Burstall, and later mom and her parents moved to Medicine Hat. She worked in a restaurant when she met the love of her life, our father Albert Klaudt. They married December 1, 1945, they lived and farmed on the Klaudt farm in Golden Prairie. She worked hard raising a family and helping our father. They were blessed with four children; Marleen, Garry, Ivan and Milton. They farmed until 1975 at which time mom, dad and Milton purchased the General Store in Burstall. In June 1976 our father passed away. Mom and Milt operated the store until 1978. Mother met and married Tony Krassman October 19, 1983, then moving to Medicine Hat. Mother was always busy. Travelling was her passion; seeing and doing new things. She belonged to the Lutheran Church and spent countless hours on committees, at conventions, etc. She loved golfing, and was on numerous bowling leagues, quilting groups and of course spent plenty of time in her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all she loved being with and around all of us and our families. Those memories we will all cherish. It was always a special time in our house when Grandma visited, special memories were made. Mom is survived by her daughter Marleen Knoblick (Bobbie) of Kelowna, and their children Dean (Melanie) and Daryne (Nicole); Garry Klaudt (Alann) of Medicine Hat, and their families; Milt Klaudt (Linda) of Richmound and their children, Meghan (Todd) and Jordan (Candice) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law; Delores Stickelmier, Linda Stickelmier, Olinda Stickelmier; along with numerous cousins in Germany and many long time friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Matilda Stickelmier , our father Albert Klaudt, Tony Krassman, her infant son Ivan Duane Klaudt, brothers, Henry, Voldy and Ewald Stickelmier, one sister Erna Job, her sisters-in-law Millie Arndt and Elsie Neitz, and her brother-in-law Louis Job. Mother loved entertaining, cooking, and baking. There was always a pot of her delicious chicken noodle soup ready and for which she is famous. She instilled in us that hard work pays off, if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all and to enjoy our families and friends company as well as numerous other life skills. Mother we will miss your smile and never stop loving you. As we say so long, Dad and Ivan are waiting for you. Our thanks to Dr. Jonker, the staff at the Good Samaritan Society where she loved all the hugs and teasing. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the Pattison Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church from 9:30 – 10:25 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the St. Peter Lutheran Church (758 8th Street SE) on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Dallas Hjorth officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
