Marlene Hammel

Marlene struggled with COPD and poor lung function for many years. This condition made daily breathing very difficult for her. On July 13, Marlene lost that struggle. At least she is able to breath easily.
Farming and family were Marlene’s life. She was proud of her sons and worked side by side, initially with Ray, and then with her boys, to build up the family farm. She was also proud of her yard and spent many hours cutting grass, planting flowers, pulling weeds, and trimming trees to keep it beautiful. At one time Marlene could “drive” any truck, tractor or vehicle on the farm that needed to be driven or moved somewhere. She would work along side with her boys during the day and then come inside and make bread, put up pickles and preserves, and do her house cleaning in the evenings.
Marlene treated everyone fairly and honestly and expected that in return from them. The relationships that developed from this philosophy established true and trusted friendships that Marlene cherished. At her house the coffee pot was always on, no matter what time of day or night. Many stories, decisions, sorrows, laughs and confidences were shared around Marlene’s kitchen table over a cup of coffee, but you were always welcomed.
Marlene leaves to mourn her passing her family and her many friends. She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Len (Stacy) Hammel and their children, Megan (fiancée Patrick) and Raelyn; Lorne (LaDonna) Hammel and their children, LeAnna (Matt) and their daughter, Kaidence, Tyler (Robyn), and their son Bentley, and Meagan, Kristin and Janelle. Also left to mourn is Marlene’s special friend, Pete Schile; sister, Sharon (Lindsay) Reid; brothers, Wayne (Erika) Street and Kevin (Tania) Street; brothers-in-law, Bill Rogers, Simon (Emma) Hammel, Pete (Phyllis) Hammel; sister-in-law, Mavis (Blaine) Taylor and their families; and one step-grandson, Braden
Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Ray; her parents, Harold and Josephine Street (Stone); Ray’s parents, Leonard and Anna Hammel; sister, Rhonda Rogers; sister’s-in-law, Mag (Johnny) Flickenstein and Anna (Tony) Fiitterer.
