1928 – Marie Schreiber – 2021
Marie Elizabeth Schreiber of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the age of 92 years, beloved wife of the late Ewald Schreiber. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Stan (Linda) Schreiber and their children, Jason (Cindy) Schreiber (Brittaney (Ethan Hammond), Braeden), Sherri (Kelly) Jans (Cody (Carissa) Knoll, Brooke, Madison), Jennifer (Steve) Piercey (Sofia); Sheila (Mike) Trieber and their son Kyle (Dawn) Trieber (Chloe, Nevaeh, Kaleb); and Stewart Schreiber (Sylvia Wenzel) and his children Carla Schreiber (Mitch Fischer) and Tyler Schreiber (Stephanie Fauser); one sister Frieda (Mike) Eckes; her sister-in-law Bertha Schmidt, Ewald’s surviving family as well as several nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by her parents Maria and John Schmidt; her husband Ewald on January 18, 1980; a special friend Frank Verhegge and one grandson Robert Trieber on May 10, 1990; one sister Katie Lutz and one brother Bill Schmidt and Ewald’s parents and siblings. Marie was born on May 24, 1928 at Manyberries and later moved to Orion. In the early 1940’s she moved to Medicine Hat where she married Ewald Schreiber on May 28, 1949. In 1980, at the age of 52, Ewald passed away from A.L.S. Following his death she began a 20 plus year relationship with Frank Verhegge. He was known as “Papa” to all her grandchildren. Marie’s family would like to thank all the staff at Riverview Care Centre for the care and compassion shown to our mother over the years. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Family and friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service. Please attend by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
