Marian McGee
1932 ~ 2022
Marian Jean McGee passed away peacefully at Riverview Nursing Home in Medicine Hat on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the age of 89 years. Marian leaves behind her five children to cherish her memory: Wayne (Marion), Ken (Chris), Patti (Tim), Barb (John) and Brian (Sandy). She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marian was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy (2016) and her one sister, Elaine (2019). Marian was born in Wingham, Ontario and grew up in Galt with her mom and only sibling, Elaine. She enjoyed roller skating in her youth and this is where she met Roy, the love of her life and partner for 66 years. Raising five children, she always encouraged them and provided them opportunities to seek out their own paths. In 1978, Roy and Marian moved to Medicine Hat and called it home since. Marian was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed writing poems to reflect celebration milestones. She cherished her collection of special occasion celebration cards that spanned over her lifetime and enjoyed doing paper crafting to add that extra touch to make her card message personalized. Timed perfectly, you could count on her greeting card arriving in the mailbox on your special day or Friday if on a weekend. Mom shared a love for camping with Dad, taking the time to travel and explore Canada from coast to coast, and also enjoyed driving trips to California and Nevada. She will be fondly remembered and we will miss her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and dedicated staff at Riverview Nursing Home over the past year, and to Brian and Sandy for providing Mom with personal care and support since Dad’s passing, enabling her to live at home for as long as she did. A private family interment was held at Hillside Cemetery on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com).
