Maria Adelina V. Lantican, beloved wife of Remigio, passed away suddenly at her home in Redcliff, Alberta on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the age of 89 years. Along with Remigio, left to cherish her memory are her children, Alliena, John (Debora) and Julius; grandchildren, Allias, Andaya, Ayesha, Jared, Ava, Martine, Justin, Robert and Jude; great-grandson, Davin; siblings, Felicitas V. Iglesias, Conchita V. Velasco, Mariano B. Vasquez Jr., Lilia V. Lemmons, Edgardo B. Vasquez and Romeo B. Vasquez as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Mariano F. Vasquez and Irene Bernardo Vasquez as well as her siblings, Soledad V. Cornejo and Natividad B. Vasquez. Born alongside her twin sister, Chit, Lina was the second oldest of nine children. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in English and began her career as a teacher. On December 25, 1965, she married Remigio, aand together they had 4 children, raising 3 to adulthood. In 1976, the family immigrated to Canada, settling first in Saskatoon before making Redcliff their home. Lina worked at Riverview Care Centre for many years. Even after retiring, she would often return to help whenever she was needed, finally retiring for good in her 80s. She was a woman of deep faith, devoted to Santo Niño and the Legion of Mary. Lina enjoyed being involved in her church, community and many different groups and activities. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. Lina will be remembered for her caring heart, wonderful sense of humor, generous spirit and the love she shared with everyone who knew her. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Paolo Cervantes celebrant.
