Marci Lynn Windjack, age 50, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta.
She is survived by her husband, Perry Windjack and her three children; Allayne (Calvin) Olson and their children Luke and Bennett, Brodie Windjack and his son Mason, and Sydney Windjack; her parents, Laverne and Bernice Weiss; her sister, Nola (Claude) Palmier; nieces, Elyse, Erin, Eden & Emeri along with their families; mother-in-law, Iris Windjack; brother-in-law, Rod Windjack and family and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father in-law, Walter Windjack and her grandparents, Roy and Helen Gold and Emmanuel and Martha Weiss. Her family was almost always first – unless the cows called! She was a proud mother and grandmother who was over the moon happy to have her little ones in her life and could not wait for another little bundle to arrive this fall.
Marci was born on July 14th, 1968 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She loved growing up on her parent’s ranch with her sister, Nola, and their Hereford cows, horses, four legged friends and even her ducks, Gertrude and George. During her school years she was actively involved in barrel racing, figure skating and curling. After graduation, Marci moved to Saskatoon to attend SAIT where she completed her Animal Tech course. In 1990, she married Perry Windjack of Weyburn and they moved home to Maple Creek onto the Newby ranch. Marci loved being able to continue her father’s ranching legacy while working alongside her parents, sister, and husband, with this passion being passed down to her children and grandchildren. She also held different jobs within the community, eventually joining the John Deere dealership where she worked for over 25 years. She enjoyed being able to visit with the local farmers and ranchers and was able to create close relationships with the Hutterite colonies where she would purchase hundreds of pounds of cukes and tomatoes every year.
Marci was an active member of the Maple Creek Curling Club and enjoyed her nights on the ice, curling with her sister, friends and both of her daughters. She travelled many miles to her kids hockey games and rodeos as she enjoyed watching and supporting them do what they love. Another passion of Marci’s was quilting and she gifted many of them to loved ones over the last 10 years.
Marci was always positive and full of life. She always had a ‘Hello’ ready for anyone she met and was supportive of all those who have travelled the same road that she was currently on. Marci will forever be missed and the void in our hearts will never be filled. Her determination and strong will is a trait that defined her perfectly. The strongest woman we know…
A Celebration of Marci’s life will be held on Monday, May 27th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maple Creek Armouries with Rev. Michele Rowe officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at the Maple Creek Cemetery. Lunch and refreshments will be served following the service.
