Louis Simon passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the age of 92 years, beloved husband of Dorothy Simon of 63 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory seven children, Karen (Martin) Leprieur, Curtis Simon, Tamara (Stephen) Lewis, Lori Simon, Lorne “Buddy” Simon, Robin (Maggie) Simon and Ron (Shanon) Simon; eight grandchildren, Amy (her children, Keatyn, Aryanna, Harlow, Louis (Crystal) (their children Dallas, Karder, Avalyn and Noah), Kelsey, Marissa, Nicholas, Devin, Jaxson and Kian; one sister Liz (Bob) Noble; one sister-in-law Carol Bishop, brother-in-law Roger (Bev) Renschler, sister in-law Janet Renschler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Kelly, Terry and David; by his parents Emilia and Louis Simon; three brothers, Andrew and two in infancy; sister and brother in-law Joan and John Mezei, brother in-law Doug Renschler, brother and sister in-laws Garnieth and Joan Renschler. Louis was born on October 25, 1926 in Sajo Kaza, Hungary and came to Canada with his mother as a child of 3½ years old. His father was already here preparing a home. He went to school at Haig until he was fifteen, then started farming with his father. In 1955, he married the love of his life Dorothy Renschler; that union produced ten children. His was truly a life to celebrate. He left us a true legacy – be honest and true to your word – if you have a job to do – do it. Family and friends were very important. Louis was a Charter Member of the Conquerville Lions Club for sixty plus years, Fraternal Order of Eagles for fifty years, Steward of the Bow Island United Church and for nine years he served on the Alberta Turkey Board. Even in retirement he still enjoyed talking about farming and telling Buddy what he should plant and how much fertilizer to use. Our family isn’t fancy, perfect, worldly or famous – we are just us. No matter what, we are there for each other and it is one of the best feelings in the world. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m and at the church on Monday from 12:00 – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Gloria Angle presiding. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
