Lorraine Sandra (Olson) Gamble
Lorraine passed away April 9th ,2021, at the hospital in Medicine Hat, Alberta with her family by her side. Lorraine was born to Carl and Shirley Olson, in Kenora Ontario on August 30, 1949. Lorraine lived most of her childhood at Culloden Lake in Pellatt Township. She attended school in Keewatin and Beaver Brae Secondary School in Kenora.
Lorraine married Lary Gamble of Dryden Ontario on April 4th, 1967 in Kenora. They were blessed with a family of three, Vincent, Shannan and Carla.
Lorraine spent most of her career working as a Nurses Aide for various health facilities. It was a career that she truly loved.
Lorraine had many talents. She was left- handed, and whenever someone tried to show her how to knit or crochet, she just became frustrated because everything was backwards for her. She taught herself to do both and accomplished some beautiful work. Her home was an example of her eye for design as she decorated with flower arrangements for the seasons, Christmas being her favorite.
Lorraine and Lary raised their family in Kenora and then moved to Crystal City, Manitoba. There they both took up a new hobby of flower gardening. Their house was surrounded by beautiful flower beds containing shrubs, perennials and many varieties of Lilies. It truly was a work of art.
The most important thing in Lorraine’s life was family and as their great grandchildren were arriving on the scene, they felt a desire to be closer to family again and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta. They have enjoyed watching the kids as they grow and having a chance to be a part of their life.
Lorraine leaves to mourn her husband of 54 years, Lary, son Vincent (Debbie Heuvel) of Kenora Ontario, daughter, Shannan (Jason) Unrau and their children Amber, Ashley (Sheldon) and Shannaya and daughter, Carla as well as six great grandchildren Sawyer, Isaac, Reese, Ayden, Carter and Aria all of Medicine Hat. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Dave) Guilford of Clearwater, Manitoba, brothers Ivan Olson (Arleen Wilcox) of Kenora, Ontario and David Olson (Kellianne Adams) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, sister-in-law Rosemary Klassen of Abbottsford, British Columbia, her mother-in-law Mary Gamble, brother-in-law Russell (Lucy) Dann of British Columbia, sister-in-law Treasure (Kevin) Watson of Kenora, Ontario, brother-in-law Darrell Gamble of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and sister-in-law Sue (Lawrence) LaBelle of Dryden, Ontario, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Carl Olson and Shirley (Ken) Dargel, as well as brother Emil Olson, sister-in-law Deb Partridge and niece Cynthia Mayo.
There will be no funeral at this time. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place when family can be together again.
Lorraine, you have left some very big shoes to fill for someone who had such tiny feet. May you rest in the arms of God until we meet again. Gone but never forgotten.
If you so desire donations may be made in Lorraine’s memory to the charity of your choice.
