Lora was born on July 15, 1923 at Foremost, Alberta. She spent her formative years south of Etzikom on the Lee family farm with three rambunctious brothers. When the boys went to war in 1941, she attended Olds College graduating in homemaking. She met and married Dean in 1945. They started their life together in Picture Butte and then moved to Taber. In 1957, they began farming south of Bow Island. Raising a large garden, three girls and beautiful roses and gladiolas became her life’s work. She won many firsts at the Medicine Hat Exhibition for canning, baking, garden produce and flowers. Plants always flourished under her loving care. She started the first 4-H Garden Club, and sang in the choir and taught Sunday school at St. Andrew’s United Church in Bow Island. She was an awesome seamstress and knitter. Many people enjoyed her baking (grandma’s buns). Lora was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star; earning the chair of Grand Esther in 1966. Most of all, the Edmonton Oilers, bowling, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the most precious things in her life. Dean and Lora travelled extensively in the U.S. and took a special trip to Ireland. The family would especially like to thank ALL her caregivers at Sunnsyside for their loving compassionate care. Heartfelt thanks goes to the faithful O.E.S. ladies for their many visits to Sister Lora. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pollard officiating. A private interment will take place in the Bow Island Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
