Mr. Lindon “Kay” Bone, beloved husband of Mrs. June Bone, of Medicine Hat, passed away surrounded by his loving children on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Kay was born in Lethbridge, on August 7, 1934 to parents, Lindon and Annie Bone. He was raised on the family farm learning a strong work ethic, his love of horses, and the ability to fix or repair anything. In 1953, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was a mechanic working on Lancaster bombers, Mustang fighters, and Dakota C-47 bombers. While posted in McDonald, Manitoba he met the love of his life, June Phillips. Dating only three months they were married on October 1, 1955 and were together 60 years. After leaving RCAF, Kay, June and family: Gordon 7 and Wendy 5 returned to Alberta in 1964 where the youngest daughter, Karen, arrived to complete the family. Kay worked retail for three years, then in 1967 he took a position with Bow River Pipelines, a job he enjoyed for 31 years, retiring in 1998. After retiring Kay continued his passion for fixing anything. He started a sewing machine repair business. Even when he was no longer able to work with his hands he took great joy to verbally guide ladies to oil and repair their own machines. Kay’s life was guided by his strong faith. He was good with people, had a big heart, took joy in helping others to build, wire, or repair almost anything. Dad was a practical joker and loved to tease and scare people just to see them jump! His jokes would sometimes make you groan, but he always got a laugh usually at someone else’s expense. Kay was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife, June of 60 years on December 7, 2015; an infant daughter, Linda Diane; his older sister, Colleen; and his younger brother, Ray. Left to treasure his memory are his children: Gordon (Marlene) of Maine, Wendy (Allen) Lutes of Brooks, and Karen (Ron) Ring of Dunmore. Also leaving 8 grandchildren: Janessah, Jennifer (Scott), Joshua, Ashleigh, Stacey Lutes (Jon) Wong of Okotoks, Travis (Melissa) Lutes of Brooks, Tyler (Asami) Ring, and Haylie; as well as 5 great grandchildren. Kay is also survived by his sisters, Julie Irwin and Joanne Buteau; a brother-in-law, Charles Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts in Kay’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The funeral service will be held at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1865 Division Avenue NE, on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Anderson officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Kay Bone.
