Linda Stickelmier
1933 – 2023
Linda Stickelmier (nee Hausauer) passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the age of 90 years. Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her children: daughter, Rita and her family: Scott (Stevie) and their sons, Emerson and Ashton; Steven (Jen) and their daughter, Bella; daughter, Sandra (Bill) and their family: Ashley and her daughter, Aizlynn; Cameron (Courtney) and their son, Roman; son, Glen (Lori) and their family, Brandon (Taylor) and their son Myles; Kelsie (Jordan) and their son Beau. Linda was predeceased by her husband, Henry; two sons, Barry and Carman; son-in-law, Larry Heeg as well as her parents and twelve siblings.
Linda came into the world on the family farm near Gasgoine, Sask, on May 10, 1933. She was the baby of 12 brothers and sisters of George and Wilhemina (nee Tippe) Hausauer. Growing up on the family farm, Linda learned what hard work was at an early age, which instilled her great work ethic her entire life. Any job worth doing, was worth doing right.
She was always willing to help out with her siblings, whether it be looking after her nieces and nephews or working at their family businesses, Linda was there, willing and able.
Linda married the love of her life, Henry, on November 25, 1952, and two years later, started their family with the birth of their son Barry. Then along came Rita, Sandra, Glen and Carman.
Linda enjoyed her flowers, gardening, quilting and crocheting. Henry and Linda always enjoyed going to town dances in Burstall as well as the company of good friends and family whether it was just for a visit or a competitive game of cards.
After Henry passed away, Linda continued to live on the family farm for another two years before she decided it was time to move into Medicine Hat where she lived in her townhouse for another 22 years. As her health declined, it was time for her to move into the Sunnyside Care Centre in September 2022. The family would to thank all of the staff at Sunnyside for the love and care they have given to their mom in her last year of life. It is greatly appreciated.
Linda’s pride and joy was always her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her and it showed by the selflessness acts she always engaged in. The kids were always first in her life. When they showed up to Linda’s house, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. There was no doubt about the joy she felt when they were present.
All her children are forever grateful for all her life lessons she had taught them over the years. She showed them how to be kind, compassionate, empathetic and to love each other, no matter what. ‘We will miss you dearly.’
