1930 ~ 2021
Lilly Emma Stonjeck, beloved wife of the late Wilhelm ‘Willie’ Stonjeck, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the age of 90 years. Lilly will be lovingly remembered by her son, Thor (Debbie) Stonjeck; granddaughters, Hannah and Shalayna Stonjeck and brother, Ernst Kock. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilhelm Stonjeck; son, Roland Stonjeck and sister, Ilse Kummerfeld. Willie and Lilly immigrated to Canada in 1964 and settled in Lethbridge where Willie became a contractor building houses and Lilly managed the German Deli downtown. They were very active in the local German Canadian Harmony Club where they spent most Saturday nights dancing and socializing. After retirement, they spent many years traveling the world until 1998, when they moved to Medicine Hat to be closer to their grandchildren. Willie passed away in 2007, after which time Lilly spent her days with family, dancing and tending her garden. Lilly’s memory will be cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
