Lester “Les” Allen Uhrich passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the age of 63 years, beloved husband of Brenda Uhrich of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Carrie (Daniel) Stotz and Candee Uhrich (Buck McCaw); four grandchildren, Jeff Uhrich and Neola, Emerae and Huxley McCaw; three sisters, Alma Lynn (Barry) Morcom, Lorraine Schneider and Jean (Bill) Heitman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Ralph and Ida Uhrich. Lester was born in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, and moved to Medicine Hat when he was young. He graduated from Medicine Hat High School and married his high school sweetheart Brenda. Lester was employed at a variety of businesses over the years, including Medalta, IXL, Veiner’s Greenhouses, as well as owning two pubs and several rental properties.
People would remember him as a unique soul; he had many interests and hobbies in life. He enjoyed drawing, painting, writing poetry, tinkering with gadgets and building things. He had a great sense of humour and always tried to make people smile either with his silly actions, jokes, and his singing. He had a real eclectic taste in music, but he was known for playing his hard rock very loudly. Lester loved all animals and had many pets in his lifetime. He was a very giving person and would have helped anyone who needed it. He was known for having a sweet tooth and always passing out candy to anyone he crossed paths with. Lester was a very social man, he made friends easily and had many stories to share, he will be deeply missed by many. Keep on rockin’ Dad!
