June 2, 1940 ~ January 26, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Laurent Hector Bourassa, beloved husband of Catherine Josephine Bourassa, announce his passing at South Country Village in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the age of 81 years. Laurent was born in Radville, SK. and grew up working on the farm. He graduated grade 12 from St. Olivier’s High School. Laurent married Catherine Josephine Topp in Regina, SK., on June 27, 1964 and were married for 57 years. Laurent worked as a barber right out of school until he moved to B.C. where he worked as an electrician until his retirement. His loving, kind hearted nature created in him a reliable, honest, loyal and compassionate man. Laurent enjoyed, hunting, pistol and rifle shooting, reloading bullets, wood working with clocks, gardening and bowling. He loved watching football, baseball, hockey and wrestling as well as a season ticket holder for the Medicine Hat Tigers and Mavericks for years. Laurent was a proud Lifetime member of the Lion’s Club and assisted as an Auxillary Police officer with the RCMP. He loved spending time with his family supporting and watching their sporting activities. Laurent was proud of achieving his Electrical Certificate and his participation in the Lion’s Club. Along with Catherine, also left to cherish Laurent’s memory will be his two children: son, Doug Bourassa and his son, Justin Bourassa of Bobcaygeon, ON. and daughter, Lauren (Matt) Seitz, grandson, Caleb of Medicine Hat, AB.; daughter, Roxanne Bourassa (Marty Materi), granddaughter, Melissa (Lane) Therriault and their children, Carson and Sydney of Pincher Creek, AB.; also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Fern & Eileen of Calgary, Yvette and Lou of Vineland, ON., Leonie of High River, AB., Al and Cristina of Andalucia, Colombia, Germain and Billy of Saskatoon, SK., and Normand and Lana of Radville, SK. Laurent was predeceased by his father, Horace Bourassa and mother, Yvonne Bourassa; his half-siblings, Jeanne Delanoy, Simone Mazenc, and Lucien Bourassa. A Celebration honouring Laurent’s Life will be held at a future date.
