Kenneth Arthur Maltby was born in Guelph, Ontario on December 12, 1940, and passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on August 21, 2024 at the age of 83 years. Left to honour his memory are his children, Teri (Denis) Bolduc, Darleen Cave, Greg (Claudette) Cave, Jasmina (Stewart) Scheuerman, Marc (Amanda) van Montfort and Elaine van Montfort; grandchildren, Danielle Dickie, Tamara Dickie, Lexie (Adam) Binnie, Tyler Cave, Mitchell (Shannon) Scheuerman, Savannah (Kyle) Ceelen, Erikson van Montfort, Keaton van Montfort, Beau van Montfort and Rowan Morrison as well as his great-grandchildren, Xavier Palmer, Peter Dickie, Preston Dickie, Percy Dickie, Maeve Binnie, Aiden Cave and Sloane Ceelen. He is also survived by his siblings, Rita Maltby, Rose Maltby, Gloria Coppes, Pat Melnik, Betty Anne Reid, Shirley Gowland and Sue Swackhammer as well as many close friends who were considered family ranging from Alberta to the Maritimes. He was predeceased by his parents, Doug and Hilda as well as his brother, John. Ken found his calling driving truck, acquiring over a million kilometres in over 50 years, which was one of his proudest achievements. The freedom of the highway and the satisfaction of a job well done were among his greatest joys. Ken also had a passion for working on smaller engines, another hidden talent of his honed over the years. On January 17, 1996, Ken married Marija van Montfort. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership until Marija’s passing in 2018. After losing Marija, Ken found love and comfort in the company of his family and friends.The warmth he brought when you were with him was immeasurable. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Rest in peace Ken, you are now reunited with Marija again on a new journey. Dignified cremation has taken place. A private family time of remembrance will be held.
