Kelvin Dyck
1965 – 2022
The family of Kelvin Dyck, age 57, are saddened to announce his passing on Monday, May 9, 2022 in Redcliff, AB. Kelvin James Dyck was born on March 9, 1965 in Central Butte, SK. He attended elementary school in Riverhurst, SK until grade eight, and took grade nine and ten in Central Butte. He left school and moved to Medicine Hat, AB in 1986 to find employment.
Kelvin started working for Panther Industries where he met his best friend, Kevin Meyer. From there, he went to work for Art’s Pipeline before moving to Big Country Pipeline. In 2000, he became a dirt foreman/operator and when MasTec bought Big Country in 2013, he continued under them. Kelvin loved the work he did and took pride in it, he was always showing off pictures of big projects he was involved in.
He also loved the outdoors and will be remembered for his love of fun and adventure. Kelvin used to take yearly trips to the mountains to go sledding with his friends and had a love for spending time in his garage tinkering with his many “toys” over the years. Kelvin especially took pride in his dune buggies — he would cruise around showing them off in the warmer months. But he also enjoyed his sleds and would bring them home at Christmas to take the family out, he was always thought of as the “fun uncle” by his nieces and nephews.
Kelvin had a love for cooking and was always interested in what you were making so he could try his own version. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and talking for hours about everything and nothing. Kelvin’s zest for life and his easygoing nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him and were lucky to call him family or friend.
Kelvin was predeceased by his mother, Clarice Dyck; his sister, Gail Ostrander; his brother–in–law, Bob Kirwan and by his step–mother, Nettie Dyck.
Kelvin is survived by his father, Herb Dyck; sister, Sharon Kirwan; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Carmen) Ostrander, Jeffrey Ostrander, Tenille (Shane) Torry, Laci (Colin) Ostrander, Anne Kirwan, Bartley (Kelsey) Kirwan, David (Elisa) Kirwan, Daniel (Sharla) Kirwan as well as numerous great–nieces, great-nephews, step–nieces, step-nephews, co-workers and friends.
The Celebration of Life for Kelvin Dyck will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Riverhurst Community Hall, Riverhurst, SK with Donovan Epp officiating. The eulogy and tributes will be given by Laci Ostrander and Jeff Ostrander and the photo presentation will be given by Kelvin’s family. The Interment Service will follow at the Riverhurst Cemetery with Kevin Meyer, Mike Paul, David Kirwan, and Daniel Kirwan serving as pallbearers. Honourary pallbearers are all those who shared in Kelvin’s life. In memory of Kelvin Dyck, donations made to Prairie Wind Estates, 1329 Herbert Ave, Herbert, SK, S0H 2A0, would be appreciated by the family.
