November 28, 1946 ~ December 30, 2023
The family of Keith Henry Porter, loving husband of Myrna, announce his peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the age of 77 years. Along with Myrna, Keith leaves to cherish his memory: son, Sean Porter and his children, Keenan (Michelle) and their son, Jasper; son, Devin (Alexandra) Porter and their son, Xavior; and daughter, Kendra Porter; siblings, Janet (John) Biggs, Lorna Porter, Shirley Porter (Klaus) and Kevin (Kym) Porter; brother-in-law, Ken Marchand as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Graeme; parents, Kenneth and Leona; brothers, Dale Porter and Grant Porter and sister, Mary Marchand. Keith was born in Medicine Hat on November 28, 1946, and graduated from Medicine Hat High School in 1966. If you knew Keith, you knew that he was a man of many talents… he was a singer/songwriter and self taught musician and he was also advanced with modern day technology. With his know how and ‘artsy eye’, he would create beautiful cards that he liked to give out. He was also the proud founder of Plastic Arts & Hobby Crafts in Medicine Hat. Keith was an avid car enthusiast and was mechanically inclined and liked to tinker around. Keith was a loyal and dedicated employee who worked at the base in Suffield (DRES) for 24 years. He had a striking resemblance of a certain someone with his stature and long, white beard – he was often identified as Santa Claus! He embraced the role and conversed with children and handed out candy canes just as Santa would do. Keith will be remembered for his sense of humour, his many classic dad jokes and his love for puns… he was a punny guy! A fun fact about Keith is that he loved cheese – all kinds of cheese and he even had special containers just for his cheeses! Keith lived a simple life and was a loving family man who will be deeply missed. His motto and way of life was proudly displayed on his favourite shirt, “No Jesus, No Peace, Know Jesus, Know Peace.” A private celebration of Keith’s life will be held and dignified cremation has taken place.
