June Barsness
June 3, 1927 ~ February 10, 2022
June Margaret Barsness passed away peacefully at her home at the Riverview Care Centre in Medicine Hat on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 94 years. June’s memory will remain in the hearts of her children, Raymond (Gerry) of New Sarepta, AB., Sharon Janke of Coaldale, AB., and Martin (Bonnie) Barsness of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Donna Dyck as well as her brother, Bill (Katie) Wannamaker. June was predeceased by her husband, Louis; parents, Lloyd (Annie), great-grandson, Cole; sister, Mary (Joe) Perkins; brothers, Richard (Valeda) Wannamaker and Jack Wannamaker; brother-in-law, Dan Dyck as well as numerous extended members of the Barsness family. June was born on June 3, 1927, in Gull Lake, SK. She grew up and attended school in Richview, north of Antelope, SK. June married Louis Barsness of Antelope and had three children, Raymond Herald, Sharon Louise and Martin Louis. June and Lou spent a portion of early married life in the Fallen Timber area but spent most of their lives residing on their humble farm northwest of Webb. They also resided in Swift Current for a short time but in their hearts, the farm was truly home. June was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who gave all of herself to her family. She loved her social gatherings including coffee times with relatives, neighbours and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sparkles in her eyes and filled her heart with warmth and joy, especially on her not-so-good days. Following Lou’s passing in 2014, June moved to Medicine Hat in September 2015, and in February 2017, moved to the Riverview Long Term Care. She was truly blessed with the love and care she received while at Riverview; from day one to her final moments. She will be sadly missed but ever so fondly remembered by her unrelenting spirit of love and caring. As per June’s wishes, her memory will be silently remembered without the proceedngs of a formal service.
