It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Paul Ollivier, who departed peacefully at the age of 77 on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat, after a brave and prolonged illness.
Born on January 21st, 1946, in Grandview, Manitoba, Paul was a man of immense talent and spirit. He dedicated many rewarding years of his life to his craft as a mechanic and in the oilfields. In his leisure, he found joy in camping with loved ones, engaging in friendly card games where his competitive streak always shone through, and was known for his infectious laughter and delightful personality.
For the past twenty-three years, he lovingly embarked on a special project with his son, meticulously restoring a 1974 Triumph Spitfire 500. This project became a cherished memory and a testament to their strong bond.
Paul leaves behind his beloved wife and companion of over five decades, Trudy, and his son Allan (Angie). He is also survived by his precious granddaughters Hailey, Tyler, and Shayne; his brothers, Gilbert (Terry) and Richard (Marilyn); and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his close friend Brian and foster son Randy (Margo). Paul was preceded in death by his son Terry, his parents Rene and Laurette, and his brothers Ray and Al.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Home and the home care team for their compassionate and attentive care during Paul’s final days.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made either directly to St. Joseph’s Home at http://www.stjosephshomecare.ca/about-us/donations#.~:text=contact,2241 or by sending donations to angie.sunflowers@gmail.com from where they will be forwarded to St. Joseph’s Home.
Honoring Paul’s wishes, there will be no formal services held. His interment will take place privately at a later date, where he will be laid to rest alongside his late son, Terry.
Paul’s lively spirit, joyous laughter, and loving memory will forever remain in our hearts.
