Joseph “Joe” Colbe, beloved husband of Darline, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the age of 85 years. Joe also leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Roger (Judy), Cory (Jodie), Derek, and Cody (Cody); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, André and Alida. Joe was born in Saint Léon, Manitoba on August 12, 1933. In the late 1950’s he moved from Duchess, AB to Empress, AB while he was working for CP Rail as a telecommunication lineman. Shortly after moving to Empress he started farming and opened a Snowmobile shop with his friend and business partner. In 1974, Joe and Darline moved to Acadia Valley, AB to establish the family farm, then in 1978, he opened the first Butcher shop. Joe was community minded and served on multiple boards. In 1996, Joe semi – retired. He continued to farm but enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Elkwater. As the weather turned colder, Joe would spend his winters in Las Vegas, Nevada and Yuma, Arizona. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 from 12:00 to 12:55 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A public interment will take place at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Acadia Valley, AB on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roman Catholic Section.
