1937 ~ Joan Obritsch ~ 2020

Joan Marilee Obritsch of Medicine Hat passed away on September 13, 2020 at the age of 82 years, beloved wife of the late Joe Obritsch. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Roger (Betty) Obritsch, Phyllis (Lance) Dirk, Albert Obritsch, Brent Obritsch, Janice (Scott) Wells, Miles Obritsch, and Mark (Stacey) Obritsch; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Boyd (Marie) Algee and Gary Algee; five sisters, Betty Obritsch, Phyllis Beedie, Heather Gray, Donna (Paul) MacDonald, and Beverly (Barry) Demone; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Madeline and Keith Algee; her husband Joe on July 12, 2017; one grandson, Scott Ries; her brother, Ronald Algee; three sisters, Patricia, Carol, and Paulette. Joan was born on November 5, 1937 in Purcells Cove near Halifax, Nova Scotia where she was raised. At the age of 16 she came to Saskatchewan and married Joe on February 27, 1953. They moved to the farm in the Fox Valley area where they farmed all their lives and raised their family. In the early 1980’s, they moved to Medicine Hat where she resided until her passing. The Funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish, (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
