It is with heavy hearts, we share the loss of our mother – Joan Katherine Stuber (nee Verpy), beloved wife of the late Frederick Stuber.She passed away at Good Samaritan South Ridge Village in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 with her family by her side.
Joan was born in Eastend, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1933 to Laura and Henry Verpy. At age 16 she moved to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan where she met the love of her life, Frederick Stuber. They married May 23, 1952.
Mom loved being with family. She especially loved her visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She also loved her second family, the staff at Good Sams. Thank you to staff for all the love and attention that you gave to Mom.
Mom also loved attending church and enjoyed her visits with Pastor Dallas.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Bev (Wayne) Simmons, Alan (Pat) Stuber and Carol (Warren) Hassett; seven grandchildren, Garrett (Mandy) Simmons, Sean Simmons, Derek (Nychole) Lenius, Chris (Andrew) Clarke, Corey (Teresa) Stuber, Rachelle (Rick) McClelland, and Ryan Hassett; twelve great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Peggy Stuber; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Stuber on May 1, 2010; her parents, Laura and Henry Verpy; three brothers, Harvey, Clifford and Duane; as well as two sisters, Zelda Glassford and Pat Hanson.
The private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Dallas Hjorth officiating. Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people. Masks are mandatory. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. Interment will follow in the Maple Creek Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. CST.
