It is with great sadness that the family of Hertha Lehman announce her passing on April 2, 2019 at the age of 96 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother Herold Knodel; two sons, and two daughters, Sherwin (Linda), Sheryl (Bob) Bartlett, Lorne and Lana (Michael) Nikiel; six grandchildren, one step grandchild and twelve great grandchildren, Keith and Cary, Kelly and Carrie (their daughter Delaney), Scott and fiancé Kristin (his children Eden, Jada), Amber and Keith (their children Justin and Jordan), Melissa and Dane (their children Daxen, Ronen and Teyla), Sheleen and Cory (their children Gavin, Sawyer, Knox and Remington), Michael and Kara (their daughter Kennedy); one step great grandson Trey and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Hertha was predeceased by her parents August and Karoline Knodel; her husband Elmer; brothers, Herbert and Milbert; sisters, Martha, Meta and Ida; daughters-in-law Carolanne and Wendy; eight brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and one step grandson. Hertha was born on June 27, 1922 at Schuler and was raised on a farm southeast of there. She attended Livona School. On June 28, 1942, she married Elmer Lehman and in 1943 they took over the Lehman family farm at Kuest, Saskatchewan. They continued farming until 1961 when they moved the family to Medicine Hat. Hertha remained active raising her family and gardening. After retirement she became a member of the Veiner Center Seniors Club and enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Hertha and Elmer were also a part of a musical group who entertained at many of the Senior’s residences in Medicine Hat. Hertha was still an active member of four card playing clubs until her passing. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Betcker officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
