Harold Rieper
1960 ~ 2018
Mr. Harold Rieper passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the age of 57 years. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Monica (Tom) Mannarino of Medicine Hat; brother, Raymond Rieper of Medicine Hat; sister, Renee Williams of Klawock, Alaska; niece, Crystal Mannarino and her son, Drayden Kinniburgh; nephew, David (Chantelle) Mannarino and their children, Baylee, Shyanna and Blaze all of Medicine Hat as well as a cousin, Jorgen Kropius of Fort Macleod. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Annie Rieper of Vauxhall. Harold was born in Taber, on September 15, 1960, and was raised in Vauxhall where he attended Vauxhall school. He moved to Gleichen in 1989, where he lived and carried out his life long career. In September 1993, Harold joined the Gleichen RCMP detachment and became a Commissionaire spending over 25 years as a Police Guard. He loved his job very much along with all of the staff he worked with until retiring in December 2017. Harold also had a huge interest in lawn and garden care and created a side job caring for other people’s lawns and gardens throughout Gleichen and area. If he wasn’t working at the detachment or doing lawns, you would find Harold working for Wheatland County landfill. He always kept himself busy until his recent move to Medicine Hat where he resided at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice until his passing. Harold left a rather large impression on each and everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Harold’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Mason officiating. Fellowship will follow thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. Everyone is encouraged to dress casual for the day.
