Gwendolyn McLeod

July 14^th, 1954 – April 9^th, 2026

Gwendolyn Faye Demich McLeod, 71, of Medicine Hat, AB, passed away on April 9, 2026. She was a loyal friend and kind-hearted soul that will be missed by many.  Gwen was born on July 14, 1954, in Lafleche, SK to Dorothy and Allen Demich.  She grew up in Wood Mountain, SK and enjoyed keeping in contact with her close group of classmates.

On April 13, 1974, Gwen married Ronald McLeod in Wood Mountain, SK.  They divorced in 1994.  She is survived by her daughter, Angela Gibson (Scott); son, Chad McLeod (Desiree); daughter, Jaime Lehr; grandkids Sara and Dane Gibson, Keira and Archer McLeod, McKenna and Nash Lehr; siblings, Garry Demich, Don Demich, Diane Czarnowski, and Tyron Demich; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Gwen was known for her love of children, from babysitting all the neighbour kids in her youth, to running an in-home daycare and nannying for multiple families.  She also loved her cat, Fluffy, country music, riding horses, growing plants and the colour purple.  She was a social butterfly and enjoyed being a member of the Medicine Hat Moose Lodge and the Red Hat Society.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on June 18, 2026 at the Chinook Village Terrace Room in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gwen’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
