Gwendoline Dirk has been a resident of Medicine Hat for more than 20 years and is deeply passionate about education and learning. She was also a teacher in the Medicine Hat Public School Division teaching junior and senior high students and spent 13 years teaching adults in Adult Development at Medicine Hat College. She retired from teaching in June 2020.

Dirk says the imminent changes in curriculum facing Albertans require the strong voices of people who understand curriculum building and assessment. One of her priorities is to revamp the proposed draft curriculum

She also wants to fccus on pandemic response and solutions for learning due to the challenges to learning brought on by COVID-19.

She says everyone has a direct vested interest in education. How children are educated is key to the world we want to create for tomorrow.
