Gordon Roy Meidinger, beloved husband of Sharon, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 90 years. Along with Sharon, left to cherish Gordon’s memory are 13 nieces and nephews as well as 27 great-nieces and great-nephews who all had a special place in Gordon’s heart; sisters, Bernice Hulkovich, Marie (Wayne) Sallows and Denise Rogers; brother, Larry Meidinger; brother-in-law, David (Judy) Greeno and sister-in-law, Margitta Greeno. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Vivian Meidinger; brothers, Milton and Lloyd Meidinger; Sharon’s parents, Chester and Ruth Greeno; brothers-in-law, John Hulkovich, Jim Rogers and Doug Greeno; as well as by his sister-in-law, Mary Lee Meidinger. Gordon was born, raised, and attended school in Bassano, Alberta, where he spent his early years working in the community before moving to Medicine Hat in 1957. On November 22, 1969, he married the love of his life, Sharon Greeno, in Wrentham, Alberta. Gordon worked as a welder at IXL Industries from 1959 until his retirement in 1991. Known for his unique sense of humour and quick wit, he loved making people laugh and brightening the lives of those around him. A passionate golfer, Gordon enjoyed the game well into his 88th year and was proud to have had scored four holes-in-one over the years. He also enjoyed “armchair sports,” following baseball and hockey faithfully and was a lifelong supporter of the Medicine Hat Tigers. His dedication to the team extended beyond the stands as he proudly served as a penalty timekeeper for the Tigers for 25 years. Gordon and Sharon enjoyed traveling together, wintering in Arizona and taking many memorable trips. One of the highlights of his travels was embarking on the Rocky Mountaineer train journey from Banff to Vancouver at the age of 90.A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ed Lehman officiating.
