1938 ~ Gordon Lutz ~ 2020
We are sad to announce the passing of Gordon Bev Lutz of Redcliff, who passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lori (Derrick) and Larry (Loretta); his grandchildren, Jesse (aka: Muskrat), Trevor (aka: Gone Cat) (Angela), Krysten (aka: Grasshopper) (Tarren); his brother, Wesley and sister, Clara. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Ida Lutz, his brothers, Jimmy and Bill; his sisters, Vicki and Grace and one incredibly special kitty, Scrunchions. Gordon was born on May 29, 1938, originally raised on a farm in the Elkwater area. At the age of 13, he moved with his family to Redcliff and resided there until his passing. He was employed at Co-op Fertilizer, and later in life began his own painting company “Cliff-U-Painting”. After many years of painting he decided to close shop and try his hand as a long-haul truck driver. When he decided to stay closer to home, he took a job with McMillan Transport hauling grain, he loved being out on the road and continued this venture until his retirement. Gordon enjoyed hunting and his fishing trips with his buddies – Hans, Rene and George. He also enjoyed an occasional good party. Gordon was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and baking. He was especially proud of his German dishes. His Strudels were the icing on the cake, which his family would never pass up. He was proud of his children and grandchildren – recently stating “I have had a good life, got to see my children grow up and my grandchildren grow older”. Gordon was known for handing out nicknames. If you spent any time around him it was not long before you were honoured with a nickname, and it remained with you forever. He had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh, sometimes at his own expense and sometimes at others expense. The family would like to thank special neighbors, Andy and Alvina (and her beloved Bella, who will miss her treats from Gordon), for all their help over the years; and special friends Len and Sheila. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; no funeral service will be held. Due to COVID-19 restrictions please respect social distancing. Those who wish to remember Gordon with a donation, may do so to the SPCA, HALO OR HIP.
