Gerry Petryk
1951 ~ 2018
Gerry Petryk was born on June 30, 1951, in Swan River, MB., and passed away at the St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Nellie Petryk as well as his brother, Raymond Petryk. Gerry leaves behind his best friend and partner of 24 years, Linda Glasier and her sons, Charles (Willow) Glasier and Chris (Tristan) Glasier. Also grieving his loss are several close friends, an aunt and numerous cousins. Gerry was raised in Flin Flon, MB., and moved to Medicine Hat at age 19 to play for the Medicine Hat Tigers after being traded by the Flin Flon Bombers. Gerry claimed he was the first person to skate in our arena, which was referred to as “the loudest barn.” He remained a loyal Tigers fan. Gerry spent his working career with the CP Rail as a conductor where he developed many lifelong friendships. After retiring in 2006, he continued to be an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his friends. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit, never-ending jokes and his occasional magic shows. Linda and family wish to express special thanks to Dr. Jeraj, Dr. Woodley, the paramedics and the staff at St. Joseph’s for their compassion and excellent care. A come and go celebration of Gerry’s life was previously scheduled to be held at Gerry and Linda’s residence. Family have since decided to move the celebration which will now be held at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club, 947 Pigeon Street N.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 13, 2018, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is
