Gerri Beirnes

July 15, 1941 ~ March 7, 2024

It is with sadness that we the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mrs. Geraldine Mary Beirnes (nee Joyal). She passed peacefully at the Brooks Health Centre on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Geraldine was born on July 15, 1941, and raised in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. After high school, Gerri attended college in Saskatoon where she later met Fredrick Beirnes. Gerri and Fred were married on January 4, 1964 and then moved to Rosetown, Saskatchewan. Throughout the years they lived in twelve different Saskatchewan communities before retiring to Medicine Hat in 1993. Gerri continued to work for a few more years at Sears before fully retiring. Gerri and Fred spent many wonderful years traveling to Mexico and Arizona. They cruised to several locations including the South Pacific where they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in November 2013. After losing her husband in 2014, Gerri remained in Medicine Hat. She continued to travel to Arizona and Mexico in the winter with family and friends up until 2020. Gerri is survived by her children: daughter, Sheila (Perry) and their family: Dean, Rebecca, Taylor, Shay, Cody (Chelsea) and great-grandson, Braxten; daughter, Tracy and her family: Colby, Ashley and great-grandson, Benjamin; son, Brent (Daphne) and their family, Justin (Melissa) and Kyler (Hailey); brother, Kirk Joyal (Chris) and family as well as her sister, Donalda Koch (Jerry deceased) and family. Along with her husband, Fred, Gerri was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Amy. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date in Ruthilda, SK.
