Gerald ‘Gerry’ Arthur Bergdahl
October 11, 1938 ~ March 19, 2022
Gerry, beloved husband of Carol Bergdahl (nee Annon), passed away in Bow Island on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the age of 83 years. Gerry was born in Medicine Hat on October 11, 1938, to Edwin and Julia Bergdahl (nee Myhre). Along with Carol, Gerry leaves three children to cherish his memory: Shane (Phyllis) and their families from Edmonton, AB; Scott (Penn) and their families from Red Deer, AB; Dann (Kristy) from Medicine Hat; sister, Joyce Bergdahl of Calgary, AB; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by his father and mother, Ed and Julia Bergdahl; brothers, J.D. and Bud Bergdahl; sister, Shirley Exelby; sister-in-law, Isobel Bergdahl as well as his brother-in-law, Sidney Exelby. Gerry spent his working years with Farm Electric LTD, Calgary Power and TransAlta, retiring in 1993. His passion was his wife, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerry loved fishing and camping, and in the evening, you could hear him singing in front of an audience at many events or just around an intimate campfire. Later in his retirement, he found a love of gardening and woodworking. Whatever idea Carol would come up with, Gerry would figure out how to build it. In his later years, his love for all animals had him adopting a little dog named Buddy. Buddy was the forth son he never knew he needed, but oh how he loved that little guy! Gerry enjoyed a fulfilling, happy life from beginning to end. All will miss his sense of humour, captivating story telling and his zest for life. A “Celebration of Gerry’s Life” will be held at the Golden Age Centre, 206 – 5 Avenue East, Bow Island, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Please, no flowers.
