He was born on September 7th, 1939, in Foremost. In his twenties he met the love of his life, Heather Adams. They fell in love and were married September 4th, 1965 and spent 57 years together. Being a kind and dependable father and friend was of the upmost importance to Gabe and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family and friends.
Gabe worked for the County of Forty Mile No. 8 in numerous positions for 48 years. He also ranched and farmed the family homestead north of Foremost before moving to Medicine Hat in 2016. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, loved hearing about all their academic achievements, playing games, designing and making jewelry and wood décor, visiting family and having coffee with his dear friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Heather, Gabe is survived by his son, Richard Unser and his children, Bret (Rosalyn) and Lexi “Princess”; son, Raymond (Melanie) Unser and their children Chris and Chantel (Jesse); daughter, Rochelle (Kim) Owen and their children, Curtis and Ashley (Ryan); daughter, Roxanne (Stig) Gjerlaug and their children, Shylo “Putzy” (Mason), Chelsea (Ryland) and Halle; his great grandchildren, which he adored, Keiran “Sweetie Pie”, Rayden, Preston “PJ” and Dominic; his sisters Shirley, Marjorie (Cliff), Leona (Bill) and sister-in-law Heike; his brothers-in-law, Gordon, Hugh and Ralph (Rosalinda); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
