Garth Mace
May 26th, 1939 – January 17th, 2024
Garth Wayne Mace passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2024, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Gladys Jean Mace who passed away on January 13th, 2005.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Randy and Brent Mace; daughter-in-law, Tricia Mace; two granddaughters, Ryley (Kade Francis) Mace and Taylor Mace; as well as one great grandsons, Liam Francis, all of Medicine Hat, Alberta. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty (Fred) Schenk, Corrine Drydale and Marjorie Gates; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special friend, Mary Wallace.
Garth was predeceased by his father, Elmer (1973) and mother, Hilda (2004.
Garth started in the oil business in 1957 at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan and moved to Standard, Alberta in 1958 where he met and married his wife, Gladys Jean Drydale in 1961.
He worked in many locations across Alberta and British Columbia before settling in Schuler, Alberta for 10 years, they then moved to Medicine Hat in 1976.
Garth enjoyed curling, baseball, football and later golf, which he entered in 2000 and later spent a lot of time in his golfing. Garth was a long-time member of the Medicine Hat Oilmen’s Association, Gas City Good Sam’s Club, as well as the Family Motorcoach Association and enjoyed spending time and traveling in his motorhome.
Garth will be loved and remembered by many for his quick wit, his kindness and memories shared that will last a lifetime.
Donations in Garth’s honour may be made to a charity of one’s choice. At Garth’s request, a small family service will be held.
