Garnieth Alvin Renschler
June 4, 1943 ~ March 7, 2019
Mr. Garnieth Alvin Renschler of Burdett, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Joan Renschler (nee Witts), passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the age of 75 years. He was born in Lethbridge and raised on the family farm in Burdett. Garnieth served proudly with Queens Own Rifle from 1961 – 1963. He was married in Medicine Hat on December 16, 1965, to Joan Witts and together they raised their three kids in the Burdett area. Garnieth worked a number of years with the SMRID, and prior to that he farmed while working through the winters with Ferrel’s Plumbing. He loved the outdoors and relished in each opportunity to go on a hunting trip with his Minnesota friends, Chuck, Brad and Marty Nelson. Garnieth enjoyed a good card game with the grandkids or sometimes down at the Legion where he was a longtime member. Everyone appreciated his quick wit and sense of humour and each day he would go for a drive through town, looking for a visit and someone to share it with. Garnieth’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family: son, Brad (Vanessa) Renschler and their children, Shelby (fiancé Cal Henderson) and Stockton Renschler; daughter, Tracey (Terry) Gardner and their children, Thomas and Tyler; Michael (Amber) Renschler and their children, Braeden and Luke; siblings, Dorothy (Louis) Simon, Roger ‘George’ (Bev) Renschler and Carol ‘Kay’ Bishop as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with Joan, Garnieth was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Julia Renschler; parents-in-law, Jack and Verna Witts; grandson, Dusty Renschler; brother, Doug Renschler; brother-in-law, Happy Bishop as well as nephews, Shawn Whitney and Terry, David and Kelly Simon. A Private Graveside Celebration of Garnieth’s life was held at the Burdett Cemetery this past Saturday, March 16, 2019 with Reverend Dr. Lisa Waites officiating.
