It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Oreto (nee James) announce her passing on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the age of 93 years. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Maggie James; her beloved husband, John Oreto; sisters, Doris (Jim) Harris and Marjorie (Roy) Lamb; brothers, Cyril (Lena) James, Albert (Patsy) James, Ralph James, Pat (Fay) James and Bev James as well as her brother-in-law, Reg Parsons and sister-in-law, Liz James. She will be deeply missed by her brothers, Gordon James and Howard (Irene) James as well as her sister, Beth Parsons. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marg James and Jeanette James and many nieces and nephews. After Ethel finished high school, she went to Moose Jaw to attend Normal School. She taught for three years in Saskatchewan before moving on to teach for a number of years in Redcliff and Medicine Hat. Ethel married John Oreto and they enjoyed their life together for many years until his passing in 1992. Ethel’s life will be honoured and her memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral.
