1930 – Esther Reinheller – 2022
Esther Reinheller, beloved wife of the late Ben Reinheller, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 91 years. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Wes (Janice) Reinheller, David (Sheila) Reinheller, Wayne (Denise) Reinheller, and Dale Reinheller (Dave Whiteside) all of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Renee (Matt) Rood of Medicine Hat, Ryan (Andrea) Reinheller of Fairbanks, Alaska, Aliesha (Kelly) Kurpjuweit, Amanda (Michael) Schneider, Michael (Jessica) Reinheller and Melissa (Tyler) Davidson all of Medicine Hat, along with twenty three great grandchildren.
Esther was born on July 4th, 1930 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to John and Magdalena Croissant. Esther was the youngest of fifteen children. Mary, Edward, Lydia, Otto, George, Sarah, Lydia, Sophie, Tillie, Peter, Ed, Henry, Sam and Johnny.
Esther grew up on the family farm just south of Hilda, Alberta. She had fond memories of the homestead and would often tell many stories of growing up on the farm in the sod home. Esther moved to Medicine Hat in1944 with her parents where she was soon employed with Medalta Potteries as a plate trimmer. Esther became a member of Grace Baptist Church youth group where she met Ben Reinheller the love of her life. They were soon married on October 26th, 1946, the same year Ben started working for Canadian Pacific Railway. Esther managed to take care of both her parents at home and at the same time began raising four boys while Ben was often away working on the railroad. We are extremely grateful for having such a loving and caring mother who spared no efforts to make sure her family was loved and protected.
In their mid thirties, both Ben and Esther renewed their commitment and faith in Christ. This began a lifelong journey as devoted parishioners serving local churches starting with Grace Baptist, Temple Baptist, First Assembly and most recently, River Park Community Church. Esther’s number one gift without a doubt was hospitality. Every chance mom could, she would use that gift to the fullest. Mom and Dad definitely cared about others and often went out of their way to love and support friends and family. People were drawn to their genuine love for their friends and their love for God. Ben and Esther spent many years ministering at both the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat Remand Centres. A few times they even brought released inmates into their home to help them get a fresh start.
Ben and Esther were inseparable and always did things together. In their retirement years, Mom and Dad were very social and would often be spotted at the local Tim Horton’s enjoying the company of many friends and family. We take comfort knowing they are now reunited together forever.
Again, the family would like to give a special thank you to all the residents of South Country Villa where Ben and Esther enjoyed the company of so many wonderful friends and the staff at Haven View Lodge assisted living where mom spent the last four years of her life. We will forever be grateful for the care and love you showed to our beloved mother.
We are so proud of you Mom and will see you again!
