Emily Dick
1928 ~ 2017
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Emily Dick announce her peaceful passing while surrounded by family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the age of 89 years. Emily was born in South Shields, England on June 8, 1928. This is where she not only grew up it was also where she met her husband, Robert. They were married on July 26, 1947, at St. Mark’s Church and later were blessed with two children, Valerie and William. Although she could be a little stubborn at times, Emily was a caring, loving and supportive lady who was always willing to help others. These traits complimented her work as the Head Matron at a senior’s complex while in England. She was so very proud of her family and loved being around them. Emily had a knack for sewing and knitting, and with love and her own hands, she made many things for her grandkids. She also enjoyed swimming…especially in the open sea! With her great love for Jesus, she will now dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Emily will be deeply missed by her son, Bill ‘William’ (Julie) Dick of Medicine Hat; grandchildren: (Valerie’s children) Lisa (Mark) Webster of England and Carly MacManus of England; (Bill’s children) Kaine (Britteny) Dick , Brice Dick and Sarah Dick all of Medicine Hat; great-grandchildren, Noah Webster of England and Kyle and Chad Dick of Medicine Hat and a son-in-law, Bill Forman. Emily was predeceased by her husband, Robert; daughter, Valerie Forman and sister, Lily (George) Hancy. In honour of Emily’s memory, family and friends will be invited to a memorial picnic which will be held in the spring of 2018. The family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at The Haven of Rest at South Country Village for all they did for mom.
