Edward Heino
December 23, 1932 ~ January 12, 2026
Edward Joseph Heino, beloved husband of Tillie, passed away at Sunnyside Nursing Home, in Medicine Hat on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the age of 93 years. Along with Tillie, Edward leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Karen (Kelly) Mastel and Theresa (Jim) Goodyear; three sons, Dale (Sherry) Heino, Brian (Loreli) Heino and Dean Heino (Yaddy); grandchildren, Nicole and Tyler (Breanna); brother, Clifford; sisters, Pat Selway and Diane Pereux as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Evert and Solange; step-dad, George Leivo; brothers, Ronald, Gerald and Paul as well as his sister, Marie Hancock. Edward was born in Kenora, Ontario on December 23, 1932. He married Othelia Weinberger on November 20, 1958, celebrating 67 years of love and devotion. Throughout his working years, Edward was employed in construction, including building roads in the Northwest Territories and working for the RM of Fox Valley. His strong work ethic continued through his years with Arts Excavating and later at Hat Salvage and Steel in Medicine Hat. Even after retirement, Edward remained active, working at Canadian Tire, where his reliability and willingness to help were well known. Edward was deeply committed to volunteering. He gave countless hours to St. John’s Ambulance and was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus since April 1966. Always ready to lend a hand, Edward believed in showing up for his community whenever he was needed. Edward had an extraordinary talent for welding and metalwork. If it could be imagined, Big Ed could make it. He spent endless hours in his garage creating metal gates, welding stands and custom projects; often for family and friends. Edward loved the outdoors and lived for hunting season, especially deer and moose hunting. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the projects he built and the community he served so faithfully. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeraj and Dr. Ciubotaru who cared for Edward as well as the healthcare workers that cared for Edward during his time at Sunnyside.
