He joined the Army during WWII and circumstances at that time did not allow for Eddie to serve overseas. He later moved on to work for the CPR, a career that lasted the next 23 years. Following his retirement from the CPR, Eddie worked the next 23 years as a custodian for the Public School Board. Many will remember ‘Mr. Becker’ from his days at Vincent Massey School. From 1975 through until his retirement in 1998, he always remained popular with both the students and the staff there. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Special thanks to Eddie’s friends, management and staff at The Wellington for their support and friendship during his years there. Family also wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the exceptional staff of St. Joseph’s Home for the loving care and support provided to Eddie during his stay. A Celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
