Edna Brusky (nee Biittner) passed away on January 26, 2017 at the age of 67 years. Cremation has taken place, and as per Edna’s wishes, no service will be held.

Edna is survived by her two daughters, Terry Brusky and Tina Brusky-Shearer; Tina’s husband, Darren Shearer, the son she always dreamed of and was so happy to get; her grandchildren, Rease Shearer and Keana Shearer; her mother, Emma Tetz; her brother, Harold (Lorraine) Biittner and their children, Chris (Katie) Biittner and Jody (Dave) Spencer; her sister, Linda Andres and her sons, Bruce (Monica), Danny (Janice) and Tony (Ang); her younger sister, Rose (Gary) Tevel and her daughters, Dawn (Trevor) and Lisa (Evan); her nephew, Randy (Diana) Archer; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and who loved her back; her sister “at heart”, Gin ( Brian) Schafer, and her friend, Ruben Blumhagen. Edna was predeceased by her husband, LaVerne Brusky, her father, Reinhold Biittner, her sister, Bertha Litowsky (Joe), and her good friend, Joyce Weiss.

Edna was born on April 24, 1949. She grew up on the family farm near Schuler, Alberta, and received her education in Schuler and Medicine Hat. She enjoyed activities such as cheerleading, baseball, curling, and dancing. On September 30, 1967, Edna married LaVerne Brusky, also of Schuler Alberta, and they continued to farm and raise cattle in the area, along with raising their two daughters, Terry (born 1969), and Tina (born 1971). Over the years she also worked outside of the farm, teaching ECS at Schuler School, being a care-giver at Day Cares in Medicine Hat, and completing taxes at H&R Block in Medicine Hat (along with being her family’s personal accountant). She always enjoyed socializing with friends and family, from bugging her brother, late night talks with Lorraine, heart to hearts with her sisters, walking around the lake with Linda, coffee and conversations with Ginny and Gloria, and hanging out with her friends from the Casino. Travelling was also something she really enjoyed, ranging from Disneyland and road trips with LaVerne and the girls, Edmonton drives with her mom to Harold and Lorraine’s, and later on, Hawaii with Ruben (even though she hated flying), and Vegas with Ruben, Harold and Lorraine (she particularly loved the Elvis Cirque de Soleil). She loved her crafts, and every year at Christmas the decorations would multiply with her little house and village structures.

Edna was loved by everyone who met her, because of her kind and caring nature, her beautiful soul and smile, and her generosity. If you knew Edna, you knew that she ALWAYS thought of others before herself. She never wanted to hurt anyone’s feelings, and went out of her way to make you feel comfortable. Edna’s heart was huge, and she loved freely. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed a sporting event or a recital. She loved them dearly, and would do anything for them. She was also devoted to her mother Emma, from living with her in her twilight years to never leaving her side at the nursing home. Edna gave everything of herself, up until the day she passed away. In the hospital she kept trying to escape to organize things at home for her girls and her mom. Even though she didn’t have the strength, she had the will, and was a force to be reckoned with.

She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was one hell of a woman!
