After graduation, Mom moved to Medicine Hat to attend Nurses Training at the Medicine Hat General Hospital and graduated in the class of 1951 RN, with the awards for Obstetrical Nursing and Bedside Nursing. Mom was very proud of her profession and was known for her compassion, thoroughness and caring during her working years. Mom met Dad while in training and they were married on August 2, 1952 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1956, they moved to Redcliff where Mom resided until April of this year when she moved to River Ridge Senior’s Village Independent living. She was always very proud of their little house on the corner of Broadway and Mitchell and the appearance of the yard. Mom loved to garden and especially loved the flowers. She and Dad enjoyed trips to the Cypress Hills and the Rocky Mountains. Mom’s greatest love and joy was her family. To her grandchildren, she was Grandma Dot. She was very proud of each and every one of them and their accomplishments. When giving cards, Mom would often find a quote or a little poem to convey advice, encouragement or express love. Mom was a member of the Nurse’s Alumnae and looked forward to attending the yearly reunions. Mom was also a member of the Redcliff Legion, Branch No. 6. She enjoyed reading and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Calgary Flames. Mom’s life was full. She had good friends, good times and made everlasting memories. A Graveside Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at the Redcliff Cemetery on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
