Dora Margaret Broad was born on January 20, 1918 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, at the age of 100 years, beloved wife of the late Wesley Broad. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Donna Furbank of Kelowna, British Columbia, Diane (Jim) Toole of Medicine Hat, Linda (Glen) Slemko of Calgary, and Richard (Ruth-Anne) Broad of Nanaimo, British Columbia; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Audrey) Smith of Edmonton; her sister, Florence (Joe) Laczkowski of Medicine Hat, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Caroline Smith; her husband, Wesley Broad on October 14, 2010; her brother, John Smith; and her sisters, Jessie Schafer and Frances Cove. Dora’s husband had the vision and “her job was to make it happen.” Dora and Wesley were long time residents of Medicine Hat. Dora was an amazing woman, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful role model. Every family member eagerly awaited her ‘words of wisdom,’ which were highly prized. May you go with God and rest in His peace. Our thanks to Chinook Village for over ten years of care, five east and Dr. Thorogood. A private family life celebration is to be held.
