1946 ~ Donna Wilson ~ 2021

WILSON: It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donna Marie (Johnson) Wilson on Friday, May 7, 2021. Donna leaves to mourn her beloved husband and best friend for 40 years, Oscar Wilson; her son, Vincent Thane (Esther); grandchildren, Olivia and Mattias Thane; her siblings, Patricia (Barry) Maxwell, Laura (Eric) Curwen, Catherine (Randy) Schnell, Gordon Johnson and Barbara (Clayton) Davison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Vernon and Adele Johnson and Vincent’s father, Ian Thane. Donna was an amazing cook and baker with a keen eye to detail and presentation. She had many artistic abilities, pottery, painting, calligraphy, embroidery, leatherwork, beading and a love of making jewellery be it wrapped gems, loom beaded bracelets and many different beautiful earrings. Donna was a genealogist and proud to be a Métis. She loved to share family stories and discover new connections to her family tree. Donna also taught beading, embroidery and loom beading at the Miywasin Friendship Centre where every Friday she made a delicious cake or some other wonderful dessert for the elders lunch. Donna will be forever loved and remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile and light filled eyes. As her daughter-in-law said, “Donna is now Dancing with her Ancestors.” This thought, makes our hearts smile.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Donna may make a donation to Saint Joseph’s Home or a charity of their choice.
