Mr. Donald Charles Wood, beloved husband of Patricia Anne Wood (nee Payne) passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the age of 86 years. Don was born in Bracebridge, Ontario on November 15, 1933 to Charles and Camillia Wood. He finished Grade 11 before moving to Calgary where he attended SAIT to become an auto mechanic. On September 2, 1955, Don married Patricia Anne Payne in Calgary at the Marriage Office. He worked for a time as a mechanic in Calgary, owning his own service station and later as an Insurance Salesman in Penticton. Don was at times unpredictable but always hospitable, personable, had a good sense of humor and liked to whistle and hum often called the ‘happy whistler’. He was one of the Jehovah’s Witness serving as an Elder for a time as well as participating in Bible study. Don was frugal and would rather try and fix things than have someone repair it. He enjoyed sailing, watching tennis and hockey as well as picnicking and camping at Kettle River and Ashanola with the family. Other memorable times with Pat included celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary, vacations to Pasadena, Mexico and trips back home to Ontario. Don will be fondly remembered in the hearts of his wife, Pat; children, Keith F. (Sandra), Lynn B., Grant R. (Ginine), Scott B.; grandchildren, Matthew (Cindy) Wood, Wendy (Rob) Kever, Elizabeth Heslop, Colin (Milena) Wood, Leanne Wood; great-grandchildren, Damien Wood and Noah Kever and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his siblings; Bob (Myrna) Wood and Gary (Lorna) Wood. The Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 62 Valleyview Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Don Rebere officiating.
