1936 – Donald Sureman – 2022
The family of Donald Stanley Sureman announce his passing on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the age of 85 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 60 years, Maxine Sureman (nee: Koenig); his son Kevin (Carla); grandsons, Evan (Kaleisha) and Austin; granddaughter Alexis (Evan); his sister-in-law Minerva Sureman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Carol (Dennis Richter), Denton (Kathy) Koenig and Danielle (Larry Smith) along with his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Barbara Sureman; siblings, Gerald Sureman and Kenneth (Irene) Sureman; his parents in-law Emanuel and Elma Koenig.
Donald grew up on the farm south of Seven Persons and then lived adjacent to the hamlet of Seven Persons from 1961 to 2015, moving to Medicine Hat in April of 2015.
He worked as a labourer during the building of the Seven Persons School in 1956, digging footings by shovel and moving concrete by wheel barrow. He was then employed as a machine operator for the St. Mary River Irrigation District, maintaining their network canals in their eastern division. He was also involved with the Seven Persons Volunteer Fire Department for several years.
His family wishes to thank the staff at “Havenview” South Country Village for their care of Donald over the years. A graveside service with interment has taken place at Prairie View Cemetery on Friday, January 21, 2022.
