It is with heavy hearts that the family of Don Janzen, beloved husband of Darlene, announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the age of 59 years. Along with Darlene, Don leaves to cherish his memory: five children, Donald (Anna) Janzen, Cory (Jessica) Janzen, Coral Dawn (James) Lee, Andrew (Ashlyn) Bauserman, Erica (Michael) Wells; fourteen grandchildren, Adrianna, Arya, Georgia, Molly, Hazel, Malcolm, Karmyn, Anna, Cole, Sky, Jenessa, Emily, Callan and Easton. Don’s memory will live on in the hearts of his siblings, Shirley Schimanowski, Ken (Arlene) Janzen, Donna Bronson, Marvin Janzen and Sharon Hannah (Doug) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elsie Janzen and a brother-in-law, Lyle Schimanowski. Donald Gary Janzen was born to proud parents, Henry and Elsie Janzen on June 3, 1957 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He lived in numerous communities throughout his life, eventually making his home in Redcliff. Along with the births of his grandchildren, one of Don’s most memorable occasions was with Darlene on their wedding day, July 11, 2004. For thirteen years, he worked long hours as the owner/operator of the Pizza Palace in Redcliff. He was a special person and was always willing to lend a helping hand. A true family man, Don loved events that brought the entire family together so he could spend time with his children, step-children and grandchildren. He loved to watch hockey, especially when his favorite team, the Calgary Flames were on the ice. More recently, he had also taken a liking to watching Toronto Blue Jays baseball. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so starting one hour prior to the celebration of Don’s life which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Don may be made to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre.
