1932 ~ Donald Jenkins ~ 2021

Donald Haskel Jenkins passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the age of 89 years, beloved husband of Donna Jenkins of Bow Island. He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Linda (Larry) Volk of Ponoka, Larry Jenkins (Melanie Richard) of Ponoka and David (Rhonda) Jenkins of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Robyn Volk (John Hobbs), Brandi Jenkins, Dustin Volk, Lynsi Jenkins (Scott Peake), Tim (Jenny) Volk, Cassie (Jim) Hager and Cole Jenkins; four great grandchildren, Rebecca, Callum, Sawyer and Nia; two sisters, Doreen Sailer and Joyce (Roy) Johnson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Haskel and Lillian Jenkins; daughter, Susan Jenkins; granddaughter, Fallon Jenkins; his brother, Ken Jenkins and sister Kay Thorson. Donald was born in Bow Island, Alberta to Haskell and Lillian Jenkins on February 2, 1932 and grew up as the eldest son in his childhood family of five children, on a farm south of Bow Island. He married Donna Annon on October 4, 1950, surrounded by family and friends. Shortly after his marriage they moved onto the family farm where Donald continued to farm until 1995. He and Donna moved into the town of Bow Island in 1982 after building their dream home. Donald curled for many years and in his later years he revealed his love of the game while watching the brier. He was a charter member with the Elks for many years and took pride in the good works of this organization. Donna and Donald loved to camp and became avid snowbirds, spending many winters in Yuma. He spent much of his life socializing with friends and family and was so very beloved and will be dearly missed by many. The funeral service will be held in St. Andrew’s United Church (139 – 2nd Ave West Bow Island) on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Gloria Angle presiding. Private family interment will follow in the Bow Island Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Bow Island & District Heath Foundation towards a bathtub fund LTC. c/o P.O.
