1953 ~ 2022
Mr. Donald Wayne Gunderson, beloved husband of Mary, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home-Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the age of 69 years. Don was born on March 30, 1953, in Seattle, Washington and the family moved to Kamloops, B.C., when he was a young boy. He married the love of his life, Mary Prins on November 12, 1982, in Whitehorse, YT. Don worked for a number of years with Rio Tinto Alcan Kitimat and Yukon Electric in Whitehorse. He was fun loving, humorous and a caring husband and father. Don was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed time camping, hunting and fishing. He could always be heard cheering on his favorite hockey team, the Calgary Flames. Don’s memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of his wife, Mary; mother, Evelyn; children, Christopher and Donald (Nicole); grandchildren, D.J., Tanner and Kassandra; siblings, Jim, Gord, Ken, Karen and Sharon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Don was pre-deceased by his father, Alvin. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Don’s name may be made directly to St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice, 156 – 3 Street NE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5M1.
