Donald ‘Andy’ Martin passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the age of 77 years, beloved husband of Linda Martin. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Denise Van Riper (Allan Plustwa) and Bob Martin; his grandchildren, Chas (Alison) Martin, Joshua Van Riper, Zachery Van Riper and Andrew Martin; two brothers, George (Peggy) Martin, Gerald (Andrea) Martin; his sister, Linda (Ralph) Eresman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Donald Martin; his sisters, Hilda Volk and Joanne Dewalt.
Andy started work for Western Co-op Fertilizer in 1973 becoming a certified millwright in 1978 working until the plant closed. He became employed at Independent Porcelain from 1983 to 1989. Andy started managing apartment buildings in 1991 until present. He also was a Security Guard and worked for Knight Schmidt Ind. Andy become a 5 Pin Youth Bowling Coach in 1983 coaching many youth for years. He loved to tell stories, enjoyed fishing and camping in earlier years and enjoyed his family, baking and cooking for them.
Family and friends are invited to a come and go celebration of his life in the Cactus Room of Higdon Hall in the Medicine Hat Stampede Grounds on Saturday, October 27,2018 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. A private family interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
